As a result of building a data-driven game out of the open web, we're facing some exciting challenges. The PMOG web application makes use of an API to talk to a Firefox extension, and we're looking to build this into a fully-fledged API that will let our rapidly expanding player-base take the game in whatever direction they see fit. Whilst PMOG is an asynchronous web game, with more passive than active elements, we're still keen to explore ways of making PMOG a much more realtime based game. Our current setup would probably fall into a problem we've been calling the 'Uncanny Valley of Responsiveness', where the game is not quite realtime enough to be convincing. Would you like to work with us to turn every installed Firefox extension into a realtime capable client, giving us a good sense of player presence?
